Feb 2003.
Mr Berry from Barnsley had ordered a used 01/51 plate Toyota Hi Lux Pick Up
from a main dealer in London. His part exchange was a Mercedes C200 Elegance
S Reg with 85,000 miles. The dealer offered £7000 for
his part exchange, which he believed was a fair price, compared to offers
made by
local Barnsley dealers.
Mr Berry contacted www.moreforyourpartexchange.com and
we arranged for £7100 to
be paid directly in to his bank account, on the day that
he was due to set off
to London to collect his new truck. The Toyota dealer
happily gave an extra £500 discount to Mr Berry.
Mr Berry had previously telephoned the dealer to let them
know that he had sold his Mercedes privately. The Sales Manager
was pleased that she did not have to buy his old car, as
she had no certainty that she could achieve the £6500
'Stand In Value' - that she had given as the cars value.
When Mr Mr Berry originally ordered his truck he had been
told that the dealers 'Stand In Value' was £6500, but
that the dealer would give him £7000 to get his business.
She therefore gave Mr Berry an extra £500 discount off
his new truck. This was no problem for the dealer, as they
had originally taken £500 out of their margin and added
it to the £6500 that they believed was the cars trade
value (or 'stand in value'). Therefore the dealer was happy
to give the same £500 back to Mr Berry
Mr Berry suffered no inconvenience as the
dealer sent a driver to deliver the new truck to Mr
Berry's workplace.
